Exhibition "Hallucinant - the AI art of Rarathustra"

From September 3, 2026, through January 3, 2027, the exhibition “Hallucinant” can be seen in our museum’s library: AI-generated artworks curated by Rarathustra. The works were created using older AI models that, through their idiosyncratic “hallucinations,” produce images that can no longer be created with current technology. Rarathustra: “A story says nothing about reality. It says something about the one who believes in it.”

Exhibition "Artistic Education: the artworks of Trajectum"

For the eighth time, clients of Trajectum, location Boschoord, are exhibiting their own artworks in the Museum of Fake Art. Boschoord is situated just outside Vledder, in the middle of the woods, and offers specialized treatment to people with a mild intellectual disability and misunderstood or risky behavior. As part of the treatment, clients take the subject of Artistic Education. Under the guidance of specialist teachers, they create their own art, based on the premise: “What is on your mind?” The result is an exhibition full of individuality, featuring a wide variety of styles and techniques. Contrary to what the name of our museum might suggest: this is not about fake art, but about authentic work in which every maker tells his or her own story.

Henk Pries; the art of omission.

On view at the Museum of Fake Art in Vledder, from June 20 to August 30.

Exhibition: Henk Pries, the art of omission

Henk Pries is a name inextricably linked to the artistic landscape of Vledder and the surrounding region in Drenthe. He is appreciated in Vledder and the wider area for his craftsmanship and his ability to capture the essence of the northern landscape. He has just turned 90, so it is time once again for an exhibition of his work in Vledder.

Pries is no stranger to the Museum of Fake Art, not because so many forgeries of his work have been made, but precisely because of his genuine work. He is a watercolorist, and that means he does not practice the easiest form of painting. Landscapes are what most often emerge from his brush. His four guiding principles are: form, color, light, and emotion. “Painting is the art of omission, because beauty also lies in limitation,” says Pries, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” When painting outdoors, you see a great deal around you. The art, then, is to depict only that which does justice to a good composition. Throughout his life, Pries developed a recognizable style best described as refined figurative with an impressionistic touch. The exhibition at the Museum of False Art in Vledder features not only many landscapes by his hand, but also surprisingly different work, such as pieces for the ‘Feast of the Spirit’ and acrylic paintings.

Henk Pries only began drawing and painting after his active working life as an architectural lecturer. Given his age, that is quite a few years.
