Museum Valse Kunst:
Art with a smile

Artworks that tell a story

Being conned when buying art. It could happen to anyone.

It actually happened several times to Henk and Erna Plenter. In the late 1990s they moved their art collection of paintings and contemporary glass art to the former town hall in Vledder. The collection was later expanded with paintings by artists from Drenthe. Today, Museum Valse Kunst possesses a unique collection of fake art. And all the artworks tell their own story…

About Stichting Museums Vledder

Museum Valse Kunst is operated by Stichting Museums Vledder, a non-profit cultural organization with ANBI status. Our mission is to bring art and culture to the attention of a broad audience in an accessible and approachable manner. We do this by, among other things, managing and making accessible our collections of fake art, glass art, and Drenthe art, organizing temporary exhibitions, providing guided tours, and introducing children to art in a playful way. The museum’s income is used to maintain the museum, the collections, and our cultural and educational activities.
